The Life And Times Of DJ Polique

If the famous and historical castle stands for Nürnberg, than DJ Polique stands for Nürnberg’s nightlife and Hip Hop scene like no other. You hardly get a hold of flyers of big Hip Hop parties in the north bavarian area without his name being mentioned and him being promoted as „NBG’s Most Wanted“, and that’s only right. For the past 8 years Kostas Triandafilidis has been DJ and host of his own Hip Hop radioshow „Playaz Night“ for Nürnberg’s biggest private radiostation Hitradio N1 and the ratings of the show speaks for itself.

He spins almost every night of the week at various clubs in the area, because clubowners are very aware of the fact that his name stands for a house full of party people. At a young age his american army friends in his hometown Fürth gave him the nickname Polique, because of his heritage being polish and greek. With many army facilites in his neighbourhood, it didn’t take long till Kostas fell in love with Hip Hop, RnB and the turntables. His passion grew stronger and stronger each day and eventually it payed off and Polique got hired by Hitradio N1 and in a short time he was the best booked DJ in town. Besides his radioshow Polique also hosted the show „Holla“ for a private TV-station in Nürnberg.

But his name spreads way beyond the borders of his hometown. He’s also being booked in other german cities like Bremerhafen, Hanau, Fulda and Munich. The worst nightmare of any promoter or clubowner is definitely a DJ, who tries to hammer his own musical taste into the people´s heads every night, without analyzing the crowd. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why they love to book Polique over and over again. He is like the chameleon of all DJ’s, because he can adjust to any invironment or audience. To him it doesn’t matter if he spins at a college-party, a downtown hotspot or a club on the country side. If Polique is in the building you better believe your dancefloor will be packed, the house is jumping and the party will be ON! On top of that, Nürnberg’s hottest is a true trendsetter, one of a few DJ’s in Germany that can host his own set and he was also one of the first turntablist to recognize the down south movement and the reggaeton trend in Germany and he has been supporting it since.

While his colleagues stick with the same playlist for weeks, Polique is never scared to break fresh tracks and put people on the newest stuff. No wonder, in the last years he has been proven his extraordinary grasp für future clubbangers and chartbreakers. It shouldn’t suprise you, that by now he has sold over 10.000 copies of his various mixtape series, who have been introduced by the Juice – Germany’s biggest Hip Hop magazine – and many music websites like the homepage of MTV Germany. Thanx to his primetime radioshow, Polique met and interviewed some of the biggest names in showbiz like Eminem, 50 Cent, Outkast, Destiny’s Child, Sean Paul und LL Cool J, who filled him in on a few tricks and the key to success concerning the musicbiz. He also opened up for the biggest DJ’s like Tony Touch, Green Lantern, Irie, Epps and Camilo and is now Raptile’s official tour-DJ and part of his label Monstablokaz.

While spinning the wheels of steel for his homie he performed at one of Germany’s biggest music tv-shows viva interaktiv and did DJ sets at various german festivals and some of the biggest radiostations in Germany. Since 1998 Polique has entered the promoting field as well, bringing overseas acts like 702, Blahzay Blahzay, 2 Live Crew, DJ Kool and Noreaga to his hometown Nürnberg and opened up his own record store called „Hotspot“. If you think this is all DJ Polique has to offer then think again. In the past couple of years he has been gettin into the musical production and so far his work is promising a second career for the energetic multi talent. He has produced remixes for US-Superstar Eve „Who’s That Girl“, Pachanga „Loco“, Raptile „Symphony“ and Nu Flava „Te Quiero“, along side Tracks for Raptile „Barrio“ and one of Nürnberg’s hottest MC’s Cronite „Love Me“, „Friend Of Mine“, „Hustlers & Customers“ and „Watch Out“.

You can’t deny the massive influence he had on the north-bavarian Hip Hop community in the past years. No doubt DJ Polique is „the man“ on the turntables, trendsetter, heavy grinding business man who hasn’t lost his roots in the process and he’s more than ready to take over the planet!!!
